Our Story
Birthday Cakes 4 Free, Montgomery County MD Chapter, was co-founded in 2015 by Allison and Robert Wachen. Its mission was to bake and deliver birthday cakes for underprivileged children and seniors.

In the beginning, BC4F, Montgomery County MD Chapter, was composed of 4 teenage cousins - Allison and Robert Wachen and Sawyer and Summer Steinmiller - and friends, and the charity donated only 10-15 cakes a month. With perseverance and their infectious enthusiasm for the organization, BC4F expanded to more charities, donated more cakes, and recruited more volunteers. Allison served as president from 2015-2018, Robert and Sawyer served as co-presidents from 2018-2020, and Summer served as president from 2020-2021.

The national chapter of Birthday Cakes 4 Free dissolved at the end of 2019. BC4F Montgomery County filed for tax-exempt status and re-branded as BC4F Maryland as of January 1, 2020.

Sam Krakower became president in June 2021. Through his dedication and leadership, BC4F continued to deliver birthday cakes each month despite COVID. Rachel Krakower served as president from 2022-2023, and Madison Moorhead served as president from 2023-2024. Devani Shah is the current president, and through her efforts, has increased private school involvement and created Holton Arms’s BC4F club.
